Curriculum Organisation

At our school, we are proud to offer a carefully planned two-year rolling curriculum designed to meet the needs of our mixed-age classes from Year 1 to Year 6. This ensures that all pupils access the full breadth and depth of the National Curriculum, while allowing for thoughtful repetition, meaningful progression, and a rich variety of learning experiences.

To provide full coverage without overlap, our curriculum alternates between:

  • Cycle A – Academic Year 2025–2026

  • Cycle B – Academic Year 2026–2027

This structure supports our commitment to delivering a cohesive, well-sequenced curriculum, enabling children to build on prior knowledge and apply skills across a range of contexts. It also enhances opportunities for collaboration, peer learning, and cross-age dialogue, which are key strengths of our mixed-age model.

Alongside this, our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is designed in line with the statutory EYFS framework and is carefully sequenced to support children’s learning and development across all seven areas of learning. It is underpinned by a play-based approach that recognises the importance of active learning, exploration, and critical thinking, in line with the Characteristics of Effective Learning.

Our curriculum is responsive to the individual needs, interests, and developmental stages of each child, ensuring appropriate challenge and progression. While it reflects, where appropriate, whole-school themes, it is primarily shaped by ongoing observation and assessment of children’s interests, enabling practitioners to provide purposeful, engaging learning experiences. This approach ensures that all children develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need for a strong start in their educational journey.

Together, our curriculum approach reflects our belief in inclusive, responsive teaching that meets every child where they are, and takes them further.
