Transition Info

Starting school is a big and exciting step for both children and parents. At High Halden Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that this transition is as smooth, enjoyable and reassuring as possible for everyone involved.

This year, we are delighted to offer a selection of short transition sessions to help your child begin building friendships and become familiar with their new learning environment. 🌱

🏫 Transition Sessions

Your child is invited to attend a series of short visits to their new classroom, where they’ll meet their classmates and the Early Years team.
📍 Please drop your child at the side entrance where the class teacher will warmly greet them.
👋 These are independent sessions, so there is no need for parents to stay on site.

🗓️ While we encourage children to attend all available sessions, we understand that work or other commitments may prevent this — please don’t worry if that’s the case.

📚 Story Time with Teachers & Support Staff

We’ll be hosting a number of story time sessions where children can enjoy stories read by their new teachers and familiarise themselves with friendly faces in their new learning environment. These cosy moments help build a sense of safety and belonging.

🐻 Teddy Bear’s Picnic

A magical moment in the transition journey! Children are invited to bring their favourite teddy for a fun-filled picnic with snacks, games, and laughter in our school garden. It's a great way to meet friends in a relaxed and joyful setting.

🗓️ Transition Week

In the final weeks of term, we’ll hold a dedicated Transition Week, where children spend more time in their classroom, take part in daily routines, and get a real feel for what school life will be like in September.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 New Parents’ Meeting

We look forward to welcoming families to our New Parents’ Information Evening.
📌 This session is designed to give you all the essential information about starting school, what to expect in EYFS, and how we’ll support your child every step of the way.

🏡 Home Visits

Our EYFS team also offers home visits, where your child’s teacher will come to visit you in your own home.
This relaxed introduction helps build trust and familiarity, making the start of school feel more personal and comforting for your child.

At High Halden, we believe that every child deserves a happy, confident start to their school journey. Our transition programme is thoughtfully designed to support your child emotionally, socially, and practically as they take this important step.

If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to contact our school office. We’re here to help. 💙
