💔 Parental Separation

Separation or divorce can be a difficult time for everyone. 💬 It can be especially confusing for children, who may feel:
💢 Anger | 😢 Sadness | 😌 Relief | 😔 Guilt

It’s common for children to blame themselves for what’s happening between their parents.

 Helpful Tips for Parents

(From NSPCC)

❤️ Reassure them
Let your child know that they are loved by both parents.

🗣️ Be honest
Speak truthfully but in a way that matches your child’s age and understanding.

🚫 Avoid blame
Don’t share any negative feelings about the other parent.

🕰️ Stick to routines
Keep up daily habits like school drop-offs and mealtimes to help them feel secure.

👂 Encourage open talk
Let them know it’s okay to feel sad, confused, or angry—and that you’re always ready to listen.

🧏 Listen more, talk less
Answer their questions patiently—this helps them feel heard and safe
