Pupil Premium

At High Halden Church of England Primary School, we are committed to making sure every child has the chance to succeed — no matter their background. The Pupil Premium is extra funding provided by the government to support children who may face barriers to learning, helping them reach their full potential. 🌟

💡 What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium was introduced in 2011 to help close the gap in achievement between children from disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers. This funding is allocated to schools for children who:

🍽️ Have been eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Are looked after or previously looked after by the local authority
🎖️ Have parents serving in the armed forces

🧩 How Does It Help?

We use Pupil Premium funding to provide additional support tailored to the needs of eligible children, including:

  • 📘 Extra help with learning, either in class or in small groups

  • 🎨 Access to enrichment activities like school trips, clubs, and music lessons

  • 💬 Emotional and pastoral support

  • 💻 Learning resources and technology for use at home and in school

Our approach is shaped by trusted research, including the Sutton Trust – EEF Teaching and Learning Toolkit, and aligned with national guidance to ensure the greatest impact.
