Our Governors
At the Flourish Together Federation, we are proud to have a single, dedicated Governing Body working across both High Halden CE Primary School and Woodchurch CE Primary School. Our governors bring together expertise, commitment, and perspectives from parents, staff, the church, the local authority, and the wider community.
Together, they ensure both schools flourish—providing the very best education, care, and opportunities for every child.
👩🏫 Who Are Our Governors?
Our Governing Body includes:
-
Parent Governors – elected by parents to represent families’ voices
-
Staff Governors – bringing professional insight from within school
-
Local Authority Governor – appointed by Kent County Council
-
Foundation Governors (Church) – ensuring our Christian ethos is upheld
-
Co-opted Governors – chosen for their skills and experience
-
Headteacher (Ex-officio) – contributing leadership and accountability
The Clerk to Governors supports the Governing Body by organising meetings, sharing documents, and keeping accurate records of discussions and decisions.
🎯 What Do Governors Do?
The Governing Body works at a strategic level to ensure the success of both schools within the Federation. Their responsibilities include:
-
✅ Ensuring Vision & Values – setting the Christian vision and ethos that guide our schools.
-
📊 Monitoring School Performance – holding leaders to account for pupil progress, teaching quality, and staff development.
-
💷 Overseeing School Finances – making sure budgets are well-managed and funding benefits all pupils.
-
📌 Policy & Planning – approving school policies and setting long-term priorities.
-
🧭 Community Insight – offering valuable perspectives and representing the views of our wider community.
🏫 How We Work
The full Governing Body meets once each term. Governors also:
-
Visit schools regularly to see teaching and learning in action
-
Take part in book looks, learning walks, and collective worship
-
Meet with subject leaders to discuss curriculum and progress
-
Attend training to strengthen governance skills
These activities ensure that policies and plans are not only written—but lived out daily in classrooms and across school life.
