  • Athlete Visit

Fri 23 Jun 2017 Mrs. Burlton

Today we welcomed Serita Solomon to High Halden.  Serita is a British track and field athlete competing in the hurdles. She was the bronze medallist in the 60 metres hurdles at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2015.  Serita holds a personal best of 12.87 seconds for the outdoor 100 metres hurdles and represented England in that event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The children enjoyed participating in a fitness circuit of 'Spotty dogs, leg thrusts, press-ups and star-jumps'. The atmosphere was electric, as their friends cheered and clapped to keep the momentum going.

After the fitness circuit, Serita told the children about her career and he she achieved her goal of winning a gold medal.

  • General Election

Thu 08 Jun 2017 Mrs Burlton
This morning the children at High Halden carried out their own 'mock' election. The staff shared the manifestos and encouraged children to 'vote' for their party. Trying to mimic the actual process, the children used realistic ballot slips and posted them secretly into a box. The votes declared Labour as the winning party with Conservatives following closely behind.
