Big Draw Day

What a Dahlicious Day the children had on Monday 7th November. We were very lucky to have Mr. Whitham, an artist and cartoonist with us for the whole day. Over the day every class had at least one workshop.

He began and ended the day with Owl Class (Year’s 5 and 6). They took the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as their starting point. They looked at the illustrations by Quentin Blake and then created their own Charlie inspired character from a photo of their own face. They began with a line drawing which they later painted with water-colour paints. They produced some truly amazing results!

Next were the Robins (Years 1 and 2), who created Mr Twit faces from shredded paper and textured materials. A great (and messy) time was had by all.  They were followed by Ducklings (Foundation Stage), who looked at the Enormous Crocodile. They used line drawing and printing to create their own crocodile.

Finally Eagle Class, (Years 3 and 4) created a scene from James and the Giant Peach – they even had a giant peach! The children carefully produced clay creatures to adorn the peach just like in the story!

A big thank you from all of us to Mr Whitham for a truly inspiring and creative day. We would also like to thank Mrs Wood who came in and helped Mr Whitham and all of the classes to create their masterpieces.

The artwork will be displayed in the hall for all parents to see on Parent’s Evenings this month.
